Chihuly’s drawings and prints typically depict his work in glass—Ikebana are represented as gestural vessels from which long stems erupt; Chandeliers become abstract pendulums hanging against mottled backgrounds; Floats lift from the paper as textured, vibrantly outlined orbs. Spinning Wheels Fine Art Print depicts not only a Float, but the process of its creation. Ridges of acrylic paint fan from the outer edges of two intersecting forms, suggesting the spin of molten glass on the end of a blowpipe. Warm tones of chocolate brown, burnt umber, and peach ground the composition, while effervescent sprays of turquoise and metallic gold animate it.
