2024 Chihuly Studio Edition Cherry Red Basket

The free-form, asymmetrical qualities of the Basket series are inspired by a collection of aging Native American woven fiber baskets that Dale Chihuly viewed in a museum’s collection. These organic qualities have continued to inform Chihuly’s glassblowing practices throughout his career.

The 2024 Cherry Red Basket Studio Edition combines a simplicity of form with the energy of provocative color. The larger Basket vessel presents a rich, lush red that gradually transitions to a pale persimmon, creating an ombré effect. Nested within sits a smaller red element, and graphic lines, extending from the black lip wrap of each glass form, emphasize the exterior tension and interior volume of the composition.
