Guerriere was a terrier that belonged to USS Constitution's Second Lieutenant, Beekman Verplank Hoffman, during the War of 1812. Guerriere sailed on board "Old Ironsides" during its last wartime cruise from December 1814 to February 1815. In addition to being a close companion for Lieutenant Hoffman, he constantly entertained the crew on deck, led the Ship's crew when hauling on lines during sail handling evolutions, and once barked a warning about a warship on the horizon before the lookouts spotted it.
