Alexander Calder, The Forest is the Best Place Notebook

This hardcover journal features Calder's The Forest is the Best Place debossed on the front with Calder's signature on the back cover, and a silver wire-o. There is a light floral paper graining debossed all over the front and back covers. Throughout his career, Calder illustrated many of his mobiles, stabiles, and standing mobiles for exhibition catalogues published in the United States and abroad. These sketches express the dynamic nature of his output in two dimensions and offer valuable insight into a sculpture's composition and orientation. The cover of this notebook features a drawing made in 1945 for Buchholz Gallery/Curt Valentin, New York.
